Default How much can I change my character?

Well, I started the game and got to lvl 10. And then I started reading about the game cause i don't fully understand it. And then I found Minion Masters...
I am an N/E... And i want to change to monk for secondary so i can heal them and stuff.
So im still looking for a good build for a MM, But I was wondering if you can ever change your secondary class... I know you can change your skill lvls.
I just want to know if its so late to make a good MM or not...

Don't worry, you can change your secondary profession a little later in the game. Depending on which game you have, you can change your secondary:

In the Crystal Desert for Prophecies (you will have to do quests to be able to change though)

In Senji's Corner for Factions (accessible after completing Nahpui Quarter, you pay for each profession)

In the Command Post for Nightfall (I believe you have to do a quest to unlock the secondary profession NPC, though I may be mistaken)

There are any number of necro skills for healing minions without monk skills. Blood of the Master comes to mind. I use it almost exclusively.

If you are playing Prophecies only, you will have a ways to go to change your profession, not until the Desert, and then you have to do a quest to do it. In the other campaigns it costs money, but it is a bit faster and easier to get too.

Dont worry about healing your minions that way, there are a few mm skills which you can use to heal your minions (without needing to resort to a non Necro skill). Blood of the master heals the minions really well for example as Griff Mon said.

Healing your minions in any other way is far too complicated and slow anyways as you would either have to resort to heal area/party or click on every minion separately to heal them manually all of which take up either too much energy or too much time and energy.

About your question which secondary would be good for a Necro: the generic answer would be you can make any secondary play well as a necro (although a N/W would be a little difficult because of the lack of armor or armor penetration). Therefore any backrow proffesion can be essentially very powerfull.

As a N/E you can use your minions as a meatshield and either go for fire (AoE damage which would do pretty well in supporting your minions) or earth which would be good in protecting you form damage for example (protecting your own party from loosing you while you have 9 minions.... which would then go mad at anything close by and attack your teammates aswell).

It just depends on what your personal prefferences are in the end.

I also run a necro build with curses built around Spiteful Spirit for PvE. A Mesmer secondary is good just for the use of Arcane Echo. It allows you to cast Spiteful Spirit twice on seperate monsters in the same mob and does massive damage. Arcane Echo has the added advantage of being a no attribute spell so you don't have to put any of your attribute points into any mesmer skill categories.

Some mesmer skills also allow you to get energy out of thin air, something a MM needs a lot of.

Necro/eles can be very powerfull, with the use of a glyph to save a little energy and with the elite Glyph of Renewal you can constantly heal your minions with Verata's Sacrifice.

Necros are very flexible, do not miss out on the great skills in both blood and curses as both can make the diffence in a tight mission and are a lot of fun to play.

I know you are new, so you've probably never heard this before buutt...

You need flexibility in your profession. Minion Masters are great, I enjoy playing mine, but you also need something to fall back on when corpse exploitation isn't viable. (Such as in the Crystal Desert). As an above poster said already, don't miss out on the other attributes of the necromancer class. Mixing and matching skills with different secondary professions can have amazing consequences.

i thought this thread was going to be about changing your characters appearance.

since theres no way to change the physical appearance of your character after youve created it, make sure you like the way your characters look. trust me, its worth getting right the first time.

i believe everything else you wanted to know has already been answered.
